The Match: (Mission statement)
IMRA (International Match Race Association) produces and promotes “The Match,” a one-on-one horse racing competition in which anyone with the will to win may participate. Styled after the original American tradition of 19th century match racing, the race may be run on a straight-away or over a variety of terrains that challenge the strength and endurance of the horse as well as the skill and courage of the rider. The unique aspect of “The Match” is that it results in a reality-based television-ready story about the competitors and their horses: their stories, their struggles, their defeats, and their victories.
